haven't really seen the sun in a few days now. i think this is how seasonal depression starts. had a strange feeling of hopelessness today. made me reconsider what my thanksgiving plans are. lost all desire to travel to nyc for a brief moment. even tried to reason staying on campus to myself. maybe i'm just tired. that's probably it. had to wake up earlier than usual to talk to the study abroad lady.
i'm considering spending part of next year in argentina. i would prefer to do it in the fall, due to financial reasons, but it'll most likely be in the spring. i slacked off too much on my studies last year and because of that i am not able to get the buenos aires program i want (yet). will be able to come spring 2019. regardless, it would still be cool to go. the lady said she visited sometime not too long ago. she said she went in with all these argentine stereotypes about their accents and arrogance. everyone i know (that has any knowledge of latin americans) says the same thing. turns out it's not as bad as expected. apparently its very european like there. she said the sidewalks were exact to those in madrid. part of me is considering seville but i want to steer clear from eurocentrism. no matter how cool it would be to visit other european countries in a weekend or break, id rather be in latin america.
a friend of mine is considering studying abroad in sydney. i think that's cool. i visited sydney early in high school. magically managed to scrounge up enough cash to go. its a cool city, very modern. a picture of darling harbor is still the lockscreen background on my old computer. i remember i was on this island for a few days, somewhere up in queensland. was walking along the beach when i stepped on something beneath the water. i lifted my foot and found a deep gash down the middle, blood spewing. i freaked out because i remembered there are poisonous fish in australian waters and hopped on one leg back to my room. rinsed it out in the shower. my foot had begun to go numb, and i though it was the poison. was actually just a lack of circulation because of how i held my foot the way back.
i bought my day for night ticket today. im going for the entire weekend. i contemplated getting only a single day pass but the way the lineup was scheduled made it almost impossible for me to go through with that. i was lucky i waited, had the mouse a few clicks away from completing the purchase last night, but this morning they announced a new discount that gave part of the proceeds to the houston hspca, so for strays and what not. this made me feel better. lots of pets got displaced because of the hurricane (thanks, harvey!) so im glad i could help while hedonistically dropping 200$ for a weekend of live music. last year, on the first night, there was this crazy wind chill and subsequent storm that hit. supposedly my friend almost got hit my a road block that had been given wings by the strong gusts. hopefully that doesn't happen again.
