for a few years now, probably five at least, i've held the stance that exclamation marks are disingenuous. i don't like how they look. i don't think people ever actually shout, or even just say in a louder voice, the statements ended with an exclamation mark. i avoid using them based on this thought. i know i rarely raise my voice for any statement, so it's deceitful for me to use them. i only ever use them when using a hint of sarcasm in what i say. for example, i enjoy how my phone autocorrects "omw" to "On my Way!" because i'm never that excited about going anywhere, yet my phone thinks i am. by leaving it like that, it becomes a joke (at least to me). on the other side, i'm cautious as to when people use exclamation points. i can never tell when they're purposefully used or not. i like to think no one actually uses them genuinely, but that can't be true. it's often 50/50

i won't be going back to new york any time soon. at least not until next year. i guess theoretically i could go back for spring break, but i doubt it
