the midterms were today. it was rainy and a bit cold. the democrats won a majority in the house. which is good. gives them more power, though, not sure if they'll use it with the same efficiency as republicans do. dems are too caught up with finding 'bipartisan' solutions or whatever

beto won ~forty-eight percent of texas. wasn't enough. ted cruz will be senator again. i wasn't the most ardent supported of beto. i remember seeing an article about him voting no on something for daca, but was never able to verify. i also want to avoid ever being to enthusiastic about politicians, since i believe most of them will act against their constituents, or, at least, in a manner that negatively impacts a large number of people. having an allegiance to a politician often blinds one from seeing the faults of the person. don't think all that matters now. cruz has another six years. while there was progress made, i mean, that turnout was inspiring, it doesn't count for much in the now

earlier, in my ethics class, people mentioned how they do believe voting to be a 'civic duty' but that they felt they were too uneducated to vote. i'm fine with people not voting if it comes from a position of protest. if someone feels they can't support any candidate for whatever reason, then sure. but if someone doesn't vote because they couldn't find the time to educate themselves in the months prior to the election, then they shouldn't claim to know the importance of voting. like, they can still not vote. i don't care. but they can't say it's their duty and then not follow through due to laziness. it's hypocritical, which is part of human nature i guess

i got two 'i voted' stickers today
