i spent thanksgiving last week in providence. i stayed with julia at her place. we drove up with someone else tuesday morning. was there through friday. i spent a good amount of time on wednesday watching 'to catch a predator'. well, it wasn't called that. that's the older show from the 2000s. this one was called 'hansen vs. predator'. basically the same show though. better cameras. there was a clip in the into that showed they stashed a camera in a water bottle, which made me laugh. can't think of a situation where that would be helpful. they even bragged about the camera placement in the first episode. julia hadn't seen it before i showed it to her. she liked it. we watched an episode in the afternoon, then watched another in the evening with a friend of hers. then we watched another one the next morning with her sister and her father. wasn't expecting her to like it that much, but considering how wild that show is, it makes sense
i spent a few days in new york after that. walked around lower manhattan friday. well, i visited emmett just after arriving. went to a coffee place, then a mexican restaurant, then a baker, and then his place. went to my airbnb in bed-stuy after. andy and i weren't sure what to do. his friend wyatt was with us. we went to the whitney. it was 'pay what you want' but that isn't technically true since they wouldn't let andy pay zero. he was eighteen though so he didn't have to pay, but the lady was giving him an attitude. the art was cool. there was an andy warhol exhibit on a dew of the floors, which was fine. andy kept saying he didn't get it. like, the art. the sixth floor, the one with all the lights was good. reminded me of the kind of stuff i would see at dayfornight, which, side note, i don't think will happen this year. overall though, i thought the whitney was better than the guggenheim. the main exhibit there was some old scandinavian woman from the early twentieth century. thought a lot of her work was boring. it was also pay what you want here so i paid two dollars
time passes by a lot quicker in new york. i was at a coffee shop in the village around one. my bus to philly was at four forty-five, but it felt like that was an hour from then. the sun setting by five made that feeling more pronounced. this was my sixth time in new york i think. and my last time til next august, at best. i mean i guess i can come up in like february but what's the point of that? there isn't one. thats just an unnecesary expense
there was more that happened but i don't feel lie writing any more about this. i will say that the bodega owners in front of the apartment i was staying at thought i was chinese, and when i spoke in spanish, they laughed and said i had to be mixed with asian. new york hospitality i guess
