politics are pop culture now, right? they're basically all people talk about. not saying that's a bad thing, but people base their personalities around where they lie on the political spectrum more now than they did even four years ago. i was looking at beto's website. they sell lots of merch. i've thought about purchasing a shirt, button, or sticker, but probably won't. i know a lot of my friends and acquaintances have bought some. it's cool to own some. it shows your progressive. it's superficial. but a lot of things are, and that criticism is a cop out, in my opinion

i remembered something from the conference. they handed out awards at the lunch yesterday, and before each award, some professor would say something about the student recipeint. the awards were only for public universities, so none of us got one. a lot of these people winning awards sound lame. what's a 'writing' major? isn't that just english? worst was when this professor said that the stundet had a hard life growing up. she had to move around a few time. grew up in fear of being labelled a 'dork'. i want to think it was a joke. that her having a hard life was an embellishment. but i don't think it was. maybe the latter part, but i genuinly think the professor belives moving makes for a hard life. i mean, sure, it's not good, but a "hard" life? people go through way worse. am i making this a race to the bottom? maybe. so what. mediocre white people get praise for everything

i can't prove that the student's writing was 'mediocre' but what i said stands as a general statement
