i drank a bottle of wine when i posted that last post and i think that's apparent

i went to the malba today. admission was roughly two dollars. there are three floors. well, they do floor counts differently here. what i would call the first floor is just ground level. what i would call the second floor is called the first floor. the third floor is called the second floor. basically, they start counting when you build up, not when you walk in. that's for all buildings

so the ground level is just the tickets, gift shop, and a cafe. the first floor is the permanent collection. the second was an exhibit of photography in buenos aires from the mid-twentieth century. like most photography exhibitions, i found it to be mostly boring with a few good shots here and there. i think a lot of what's displayed in museums, when it comes to photography, isn't that much different from what you'd find on someone's photography instagram account. and that's not to say that it's not good, but more so that the line between high art and a hobby is nonexistent to the point where it all is both art and not art. everyone is an artist if they call themselves that. i don't think it devalues the idea, but it should humble those who think they're ahead and above others

the first floor had more interesting stuff. there was a diego rivera and fridha khalo. i liked the rivera one for it's size. made it almost life-like. the khalo was fine, though i've never been a huge fan of hers. the further you walked the more modern and abstract the pieces got. it culminated with some that played with light and shapes. while i'm normally a huge fan of that kind of art, i didn't really like the ones they had. they were fine, but not anything i wanted to stare at. the pieces i most liked were these few that were made with only a few colors. a couple were comprised of simple lines. the other two kept the same, fundamental geometric idea, but were far noisier. took picture of them. was going to post them on insta, but i felt strange about it after putting the post together. i closed the app, though i'll probably post them tomorrow

i went to my interview, which wasn't so much an interview as it was a, i forget the word, reception? he introduced me to the others in the office and explained that i would be helping with translations. that they're publishing this feminist-philosophy translation later this year. i spaced out while the guy was talking cause i heard a song playing in the background and tried to remember the name. it was 'i know it's over' by the smiths. i hadn't head that song in over a year. i don't know for sure who we're translating, but he gave me a packet of sojourner truth to get me acquainted, so i figure it's her work

jt took my headshot for an application i'm filling out. i posted up by the white wall of a building and shee tok the picture with my iphone

i was told last thursday that i no longer had to take spanish. i was told too late to really find a way to make up those credits elsewhere, so i decided to take it anyway, since writing is my weakest point in spanish. it's also a creative writing course, so it's good practice for me anyway. that said, i was bored in class, but i think that's just cause it was the syllabus day. at least i hope

in general, my schedule is looking good. no classes monday. pretty packed tuesday. one noon class wednesday. afternoon internship thursday. one morning class friday. i may need to have something else on one of those days, but that's yet to be decided
