been thinking about bringing back a lit mag that a friend of mine did at some point while he was still in college. i mean, i guess i would call him my friend. anyway i like the idea of publishing something, but i would need to have a lengthy correspondence with him to fully understand what it would entail. then i would need to find people willing to work on it with me. i like the idea of working on it next semester and putting one out before the summer. don't think that would be possible though. lot's of foundation work that i would need to do while not at college. still gonna try. but i have to get on that soon

i wrote an essay in the style of an op-ed for my ethics class. it should've been longer than what i turned in, but so it goes. it was a response to the numerous positive opinion pieces on the legacy of george h.w. bush. there shouldn't be a positive legacy for him, or any president. i may have said this before but i'm gonna reiterate again. a president can't be good. there are implicit thing in the presidency that are impossible to honor. bush committed atrocities both during and before his presidency. writing that essay was difficult because there's so much to cover. currently, i can't salute any president. i don't think of any of them as good. i reject that premise. and, to a larger extent, i don't trust any politicians. i don't want to meet any. i know how charismatic they can be. it's safer to keep a distance, that way i preserve my more critical thoughts of them and their policies/actions instead of falling for their charm and excusing spinelessness. i witnessed how everyone that went to see beto basically fell in love with him. so much so that they overlooked his determination to appease republican voters, as if they would ever vote for a democrat. he didn't have real, strong positions. i've seen comparison drawn between him and obama, and if beto will be a 'white obama' then no thanks. there has to be a better option, but i've yet to see anyone really make a compelling case. it's still two years removed so it's fine for now, but if beto wants to be president he needs to quit pandering to the right. he won't sway them

came close to all a's this semester, but i may have slipped up right at the end. still successful though
