today, someone i can only assume was a city official, due to his lanyard, black ford suv, and act of taking pictures, stopped by due to a complaint. i don't think i wrote about that here, so i'm gonna give a quick rundown

my boss' husband, a black man, came to the store in early august to move some large trash we had by the garage to the curb, since august is heavy trash month here in houston. when he was done, he came in and told us about a neighbor with a white van harassing him about the dumping of the trash. he told him that it's heavy trash month, so it's fine. he told us that the man clearly had an issue with more than just the trash. he had a problem with black people, according to him. which, i believe. because i'm sure a black man in his late fifties, who grew up in missouri, knows what racism looks like

that guy filed a complaint and the city dude came by today to let me know that we had to move that trash. i, of course, was not gonna be out there for long. i moved some of what i could to make it look like i tried. it felt like 107 outside. while i was moving some trash, the guy came home to like grab lunch or let his dog use the bathroom. of course this man drives a tesla. it's the car for all racist white people that want to feel like they're doing something good for the world. they feel it absolves them of their inner racism. anyway, the man said he'd be back tomorrow to check if we moves the trash. what made it worse was that the guy who stopped by was black and i wanted to tell him that the complaint he came to enforce was fueled by anti-black sentiments, but i was just dumbfounded by the whole thing that i looked at him blankly and nodded
