butterflies really be giving flowers 'the succ' huh?

sean asked me what my album of the year so far is, and i couldn't really answer. i said it was the new mgmt, but that's only because i wasn't sure whether 'twin fantasy' counted. i've been listening to twin fantasy a lot since i purchased the record on saturday, and i have concluded that the face-to-face version is significantly different from the mirror-to-mirror, and i am willing to count it as a different work. it's more than just a reissue. there are significant lyrical and instrumental changes on top of the the rerecording of everything. like, i really like the new version of 'famous prophets'. i'm sure i've said this before on here, but the instrumental break in the middle of the song with the piano and solo voice bit, is so good. the refrain, "When the mirror breaks" is also a powerful line that found its way into one of my poems. 'nevous young inhumans' no longer has the spoken bit about galvanism. 'Cute thing' sings about wanting frank ocean's voice and james brown's stage presence, which is a stark shift from the two indie people he mentioned in 2011. 'bodys' is just a fun song
